Baja best places you cannot miss

The following route starting in Ensenada is reccomended to all the people staying with us. Is perfect for low budget travellers and camping in Baja.

1. Ensenada

Enjoy the city, have fun and relax. Begin your day eating some delicious fish tacos at "Fenix" a fish taco place close to the hostel. Continue visiting the curious shops and galleries on the main touristic street, take a walk on the beach and go horseback riding. At night have a beer at Cantina Hussongs the Baja's Oldest Bar and the Verified Originator of the Margarita, dance Salsa at Mango Mango, listen some Mexicans bands at the Sport Bar and enjoy Papas & Beer a famous discotheque. In the next days take a wine tour, visit La Bufadora, take the Harbor boat tour, rent a bike and practice mountain biking, take a kayaking and snorkeling tour, and of course don't miss the opportunity to see the migration of hundreds of gray whales to the south of México. see more ...

2. Cataviña

Cataviña, Baja California is a small town on Highway 1 in the Mexican state of Baja California. It is located 118 km (74 mi) south of El Rosario and 106 km (66 mi) north of the junction with the road to Bahía de los Ángeles. Is a nice stop to admire the beauty of the desert in Baja, huge palms, cactus, rocks, cave paintings and a great lanscape that you cannot miss.

There is accomodation for backpackers and camping in a ranch close by named Rancho Santa Ines. The reccomended is to take the bus at 10 am departing from Ensenada Bus Station, and arrive there at 4 pm. The bus stop in the hotel "La Pinta" ask in reception for directions to the ranch. Accomodation is basic and cheap, the owners are beatiful people that can tell you everything about the area.Click to view pictures

San Ignacio

San Ignacio is a palm oasis town in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, located between Guerrero Negro and Santa Rosalía. The town has a population of about 4,000 and grew at the site of the Cochimí settlement of Kadakaamán and the Jesuit Mission San Ignacio founded in 1728 by Juan Bautista Luyando.

A beautiful little town with a nice park and mission, you can arrange tours to see the cave paintings on Sierra de San Ignacio (highly reccomended tour) and starting in February to see hundreds of wales at the Laguna de San Ignacio. There cheap accomodation just in front of the park and a parking/camping area at the side of the mission. Click to view pictures

Mulege

Mulegé is an oasis town in the municipality of Mulegé in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur, situated at the mouth of the Mulege River.

There is no place like Mulegé, the town is an old town with lot of carisma, cheap mexican curios, a museum, a beautiful mission, a river and very friendly and nice people. There very cheap accomodation in Casas de Huespedes like Nachita's that is located below the restaurant Los Equipales. Los Equipales restaurant is one of my favorites places to eat, the food, the service and the price make of the place a must.

Be sure to have a tent with you went visiting Mulegé, get all supplies in town and hitch hike to the near beach named Santispac, as soon as you arrive you will be welcome with blue to green clear water, an incredible landscape, just the perfect place to swim, snorkel, kayak and to relax and enjoy the life. Loreto

There are seven buildings in Loreto from the 18th to the 20th century that are considered historical monuments by the federal government, the most important is the Mission of our Lady of Loreto, which is the start of "the royal road" (el camino real), an historic corridor that ends in Sonoma USA and follows the ancient route of the Spanish missions.
